TRAUMA RECOVERY FOR THE MIND & BODY
Traumas are emotional events that overwhelm us and our ability process and move through them. As a result, a traumatized person can feel that they are at the mercy of the world around them. In this workshop, we will explore the impacts that traumas have on the mind, body and spirit as well as the most relevant research-based practices for mind-body healing and integration.

Using trauma-informed yoga and somatic experiencing, we will cultivate a skill set that allows us to reacquaint ourselves with our bodies, practice making choices and have new experiences — some of the natural, life-affirming comforts that are taken from us when traumatic events occur.  This program is open to all — including those whom have an interest in trauma, navigated the challenging journey of recovering from traumas of various kinds as well as professionals that wish to hone their skills in mind-body practices.

Each module and experiential practice is informed by the the foremost leaders in trauma research, including Bessel van der Kolk, David Emerson and Peter Levine. Additionally, this course is approved for continuing education credit with Yoga Alliance and the National Association of Social Workers. Licensed Professional Counselors whom complete the course may submit certificate to LPC Board of Examiners.

MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING FOR WELLNESS PROFESSIONALS
Motivational Interviewing is a counseling approach used to help facilitate positive behavior change which employs open-minded questioning rather than prescribing. It aids clients by helping them to explore and resolve their obstacles to cultivating new life behaviors. Getting started with important life changes can be daunting — we might not even know where to begin, think its possible for us or believe that we’re ready.

The questioning model used in Motivational Interviewing helps people resolve their ambivalence to change, reflect on their values and interests to find their most meaningful motivations for change and to identify some of the pathways they have for taking action! All people have the capacity to grow! We can all evolve past our present mindsets, beliefs and behaviors with proper guidance.  The most noteworthy theme in this approach is the held belief that everyone has within them a unique, guiding power whose wisdom can be tapped at any time and to help navigate any situation.

This skill-shop is heavily based on the research and application of clinical psychologists William R. Miller and Stephen Rollick and their text, Motivational Interviewing: Helping People Change.

Please come prepared with a notebook and note that we will not have a lunch break. The price is $100 per person with no additional charge for CEUs.

Tuition of $100 can be sent via PayPal
